Any home owner who has had sump pump failure knows the type of damage the remaining water can do to your basement. Not only is there physical damage that can have an effect on your foundation over the long haul, but it can also cause an electrical outage if you are not careful. You could get hurt. This is why it is so important to call in a professional when you first suspect a problem.
What is a Sump Pump?
A sump pump removes ground water from underneath your house. Without it, water coming up from the ground, or flowing in from a heavy rain can flood your basement or your whole house. The pump usually sits in a hole built into your basement floor or crawlspace. When the house is built the concrete floor is slightly downhill so that any liquid will flow into that hole. The sump pump sits in the bottom of the sump hole and is activated by the water level. The pump then pumps the water out of the house.
